Our Mindfulness and Meditation Workshop was centered around introducing the importance of mindfulness and meditation to the patients through a variety of simple methods of relieving stress and practicing mindfulness in daily life. This workshop was one of our very first workshops of this school year, that introduced the pediatric patients to a variety of simple methods of relieving stress and practicing mindfulness in daily life. Some of the arts and crafts activities included mindfulness journals to doodle in and jot down creative thoughts, origami, and coloring in intricate mandala coloring books and zen coloring iPad apps. Worry jars, miniature zen gardens, and stress balls were also introduced as easy, interactive methods to relieve stress and anxiety. Overall, the activities helped engage the young patients in better understanding the importance of mindfulness, meditation, and good mental health.
